Dutch bound [indicated by the Dutch text on the yellow paper used for gluing the spine] half green cloth, over marbled brds., spine & upper covers detached and spine broken. Needs binder's attention. [n5, 1 - 22 in 8s, 23 in 4]. (II [pr. title, verso blank], I - IV [contents], II [dedication to 'Adam Oehlenschläger', verso blank], V - VI [contents survey 2nd half], 359, I (blank) pp.). (Signature in ink on upper paste down 'J.J.L. ten Kate'; idem a small paper ticket on which 'Kellevink'). (Some medium foxing throughout.). First edition of the complete poems. Dedication leaf [mis]bound in between pp. IV and V of the contents. From the library of the Dutch poet Ten Kate. Ten Kate translated some work of Andersen and met him in person. Later acquired by Kellevink, whose books were sold at auction in 1912 by R.W.P. de Vries. Added a number of letters from and to the famous Dutch collector Mr Bosscha from Arnhem who researched the Kellevink provenance from 1946 to 1967. When Bosscha aquired the item is unknown, possibly shortly after WW II, around 1946, when he started his research.
